Me and some friends from college

« on: January 20, 2009, 10:48:38 PM »

So, lately.. and by lately I mean the past few months.
I've been hounded with questions about suffering. Mainly why does God allow people to suffer. Sure you can get all Christianese on me and say "Well, it develops character and perseverance and stronger faith", but does anyone have a different answer?? What do you say when someone asks you such a question?
I spent a month living in New York City in October of '08 doing street evangelism, ect., and you see so much suffering, it's quite a shock. You get to the point of asking that same question yourself. And it's amazing cos you'll talk to anyone of these people(well not everyone.. but you get my idea) and they have such strong faith in God. They don't let their circumstances rule their opinions of God. And you get so astounded by their faith. Than you come across the intellects, the science people. I seriously had one day where I only talked to intellectual people and they couldn't get around their facts to have faith. One of their main problems was the suffering in the world. Nothing you say to these people helps. It only seems like you make it worse.
So what do you even say?

Today I will live honorably through my thoughts, action, and speech. I will not only be a hearer but a doer of the word of God. I will serve before I demand, I will love and not hate, I will give before I take. Today I choose to dedicate my life to prayer and ask God for his miraculous power and the courage to do the impossible.
